*** This line of silk/fabric covered wings and fuselage was hand made for years in Europe by a family of craftsmen. They are no longer making these colorful aircraft. This particular hand built aircraft (Sopwith Camel, Large) has been out of prodcution for several years and once our few are sold, that will be it!
Historical Note : Most definitely it’s the size. It’s BIG. Built with an interesting array of materials. Lightweight frame stretched with fabric. Down to the smallest detail a replica of the original, which was actually only 5.7m long (less than 19 ft.) to begin with. Built by the thousands during the Great War, in many colors and configurations. Our model fits large spaces as well as large personalities (of which there is no shortage in this world!). Pair it with propellers, old maps, a pilot’s desk.

Oh yes, it's large, but beautiful at the same time. From fabric covered wings and fuselage, a very detailed cockpit, wooden wing struts, a great looking wooden prop, an engine that has that dirt/oil stained look, undercarriage with real rubber tires with multiple wire spokes, and lastly control surfaces that move in unison. This is a 'BABE of a model'. Thanks to Authentic Models for having such a selection, and a big thank you to Aiken's Airplanes for having such a phenomenal spectrum of aviation history to choose from. Well done!
