**ONLY ONE LEFT! THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION**
After the cruises with Constellation, CVW-15 moved to the USS Independence (CV-62) with this carrier, VF-154 and VF-21 became the first F-14 squadrons to arrive in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Desert Shield, although they never took part in Operation Desert Storm and Independence returned to the US before the war started. In August 1991, the USS Independence become home based at Yokosuka, Japan, to replace the USS Midway. VF-154 stayed with the carrier for this, but moved from CVW-14 to Carrier Air Wing 5 and from NAS Miramar to NAF Atsugi, thus becoming the first forward deployed F-14 squadron. At the same time as joining CVW-5 VF-154 became the first F-14 squadron to deploy with an air-to- ground bombing capability. Along with the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), Independence and her air wing were involved in operations to demonstrate US resolve in support of Taiwan. The 1995 Chinese military exercises once raised tension in the region and signalled China's opposition to Taiwan̴̥s Presidential Election.

Monumental! This is the appropriate setting for the F-14 Tomcat VF-154 Black Knights, in 1/18 scale. I was already some time ago with intentions to purchase the version of the VF-84 Jolly Rogers (did not know that he also has bright), but when I saw that the Black Knights, with lighting system inside the cockpit, navigation lights on the wings (would be better if they were intermittent, type the fusion core of the Jupiter 2), the IR sensor below the nose and inside the engine exhaust (simulating combustion), ready, I decided. Not found the complicated assembly, but requires gently movements and other situations of extremely force.
Landing gears are super detailed, but fragile, must be handled carefully, otherwise remove them from the enclosure can be damaged.
Already for the junction of the cockpit in the remaining part of the aircraft requires strength and dexterity at the same time, in order not to damage it. Here I can say it was hard. And worse, the battery compartment is exactly in this area. So, if after assembled you need to remove the batteries, there goes collect the landing gear for the bay compartment only way to remove the front, pulling her tightly and praying to hold back the pressure of your hand.
Another difficulty was fit one of vertical stabilizer, who refused to enter the hole, leading to break one of his bosses docking. The correct procedure would be to extend the crack using a tool to facilitate a looser fitting, which could have avoided this problem.
I found it very simple the instrument panel of the cockpit, taking into account the scale of the model. Of course who the screens when lit its very interesting.
Will join with the Wolfpack F-16, also in 1/18, who I purchased about six years ago, and to my surprise, I noticed now be with the ink of the nose and exhaust nozzle sticky. I'll try to paint airbrush with matte varnish to see if it resolves.
The fitted plane is amazing, is staggering in size, is the level of detail. It is for you to stand by and enjoying for hours.
