US Navy Fighter Squadron 33 (VF-33) Tarsiers was established on October 11th, 1948 flying the F4U Corsair. It made to deployments to Korea with the Corsair before entering the jet age with the F9F-6 Cougar in 1951. It switched to the FJ-3 Fury in 1954 and then again to the F11F Tiger in 1958 and was briefly renamed "Astronauts". The squadron flew the F-8 Crusader from 1961 to 1964 when it transitioned once more to the F-4 Phantom II. After flying the Phantom for 17 years, including several combat tours in Vietnam, the squadron adopted the F-14 Tomcat in 1981 and renamed itself once again, this time to "Starfighters". After flying the Tomcat for 12 years, VF-33 was finally disestablished in 1993.

  1. Very good but could have been great 4 Star Review

The model has great details level, better than that of Hobby Master which goes to justifying the higher price point, BUT some details ideas which sounded good doesn't function well in reality such as the hinged canopy.

The hinge is very delicate and will break if not handled carefully; when closed it doesn't seat perfectly - this is due to the part still has remnant spruce that hasn't been cleaned perfectly. The hinged canopy also makes it near impossible (high risk of snapping the hinge) to put the pilot figure into the weapons control seat. There's problem seating the pilot into the weapon control seat (problem with the hinge aside) as the footwell might be off-align and couldn't get one leg in - this might be an issue to individual model.

Compared to Hobby Master, which removes the canopy altogether, this makes it simpler to seat the pilot figures and have better looking closed canopy. Hinged canopy can work as seen on Caliber Wings models which has better fitting and resulted in perfect closed canopy look. This is why this model only get 4 stars.

In conclusion: a great model if you want details, more detailed than Hobby Master and justifiably more expensive but still fits could be better.
