The Doolittle Raid was an air raid ed by the United States of America on Saturday, April 18, 1942 on the Japanese capital Tokyo and other places on the island of Honshu during World War II. This was the first raid to strike the Japanese Home Islands. The Doolittle Raid served as a demonstration that Japan was vulnerable to American air attack and served as retaliation for Pearl Harbor.
