Historical:

The Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (Italian for "Sparrowhawk") was a three-enginedItalian medium bomber with a wood-and-metal structure. Originally designed as a fast passenger aircraft, this low-wing monoplane, in the years 1937–39, set 26 world records that qualified it for some time as the fastest medium bomber in the world. It first saw action during the Spanish Civil War and flew on all fronts in which Italy was involved during World War II. It became famous and achieved many successes as a torpedo bomber in the Mediterranean theater. The SM.79 was an outstanding aircraft and was certainly the best-known Italian aeroplane of World War II. It was easily recognizable due to its distinctive fuselage dorsal "hump", and was well liked by its crews who nicknamed it Gobbo Maledetto("damned hunchback"). It was the most widely produced Italian bomber of World War II, with some 1,300 built, remaining in Italian service until 1952.

For readers of CanKiwi2's "Alternative Winter War" - "Punainen myrsky, valkoinen kuolema" ("Red Storm, White Death") on http://www.alternativefinland.com/alternative-history/ These video clips are, or will be, included on both my website on Finland as a travel destination and as informational content and in an alternative history of the 1939-40 Russo-Finnish Winter War that I'm writing online. And if you're interested in travelling to Finland, do visit my website (http:www.alternativefinland.com, the content of which is being updated weekly). And just a note: Youtube members come, Youtube members go - and when they go the clips they have posted disappear, which is the reason most of these are copied from other users channels. If I have inadvertently missed asking you for permission to copy your clip and post it on my channel, please let me know and I will publicly issue an abject and humble apology. And remove if you ask. Aside from that, Enjoy!
