  1. Old Crow stole the Show 4 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Apr 2018

Bud Anderson is my favorite fighter pilot of all time, his was the first book that I read "To Fly and Fight", which I have an autographed copy, so it is only fitting that I finally get a signature edition of his plane "Old Crow" This is my first Hobby Master model and I have to say that I'm highly impressed. Stepping into a larger world of collect, previously having collected only Corgi I have to say that this is an excellent model. I did only give the review 4 stars and the reason for this is because of a couple quality issues.

    1. The inserts for the landing gear in the "flight" display do not actually fit very well into their intended slots, they fall right out. As Jeff Bassett pointed out in his review, a little white glue should do the trick, but still for something that is toted as the best in Diecast and for the price you pay, this should not be an issue.

    2. The canopy takes a bit of effort to slide back, so be careful when doing so. Also the canopy is easy to pop out of it's track in the "open" position.

Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with the purchase and as Always Dave Aiken is a great seller and extremely fast shipper. I was also pleasantly surprised to find an additional signed name plate by Bud Anderson, so that was a great treat.

  2. Nice P-51; great customer service 4 Star Review

  3. A beautiful collectible P-51 model. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jun 2015

This 1:48 scale model of the P-51 is a great replica. The model itself is mainly made up of die cast metal with plastic detail pieces for the fuel tanks, bombs and canopy. The wheels are click in pieces for a gear up/gear down display. The fit of the gear up pieces are a little loose and requires white glue, which can easily be pulled out without damaging the finish. As 1:48 die cast models go, it is a top quality piece, you won't find anything better, especially for the price.
With this model, you get an autographed plate on the display base for the gear up in flight display. Given that WWII pilots were around their early twenties, not many are still living at this time. For Hobby Master to get autographs for their models is incredible, even better with Bud Anderson, who is legendary in the aviation community.
This is a limited edition piece that will only go up in value over time. Well worth the purchase as a collectible, display piece and investment piece.

  4. good but not the best mustang by HM 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Jan 2013

I have about 8 HM mustang. They are all excellent. The particular Old Crow I got is also very good, but there is a bit of paint mess up on the underside of the right wing --- an uncharacteristic HM flaw. In general,
I am happy with it, maybe because its the Old Crow.
