**ONLY ONE LEFT! THIS ITEM IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION**

October 1975 saw delivery of the first USAF A-10A and deployment in March 1976. Built specifically for close ground support the pilot is protected by titanium armor while being covered by a bubble canopy giving a commanding view. The Warthog has everything needed to survive, dual engines; self-sealing fuel cells; redundant flight control systems protected by titanium armor; a 30 mm seven-barrel Gatling gun; a wide array of bombs and missiles. This plane packs a heavy punch and can stay on scene a long time to deliver its payload.

Moody AFB, Georgia is home to the 23rd Wing “Flying Tigers” comprised of the 74th FS “Flying Tigers” and 75th FS “Tiger Sharks”, both equipped with the A-10C. On October 28 and 29, 2017 Moody AFB, Georgia held an Open House called “Thunder Over South Georgia”. One of the flying displays was A-10C 78-0597 C/N A10-0217 that was produced in 1978 as an A-10A, completed its maiden flight on May 16, 1979 and delivered on May 23, 1979. The aircraft received a special paint scheme for the occasion.

Legendary A-10 Thunderbolt II Firing Guns and Rockets [Gunnery Exercises] (11:30)
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single seat, twin-engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force. Its official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, a fighter particularly effective at close air support. The A-10 is more commonly known by its nicknames "Warthog" or "Hog". The A-10 was designed for close-in support of ground troops, close air support, providing quick-action support for troops against helicopters, vehicles, and ground troops. It entered service in 1976 and is the only production-built aircraft that has served in the USAF that was designed solely for CAS. Its secondary mission is to provide forward air controller - airborne (FAC-A) support, by directing other aircraft in attacks on ground targets. The A-10 was intended to improve on the performance of the A-1 Skyraider and its poor firepower. The A-10 was designed around the 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon, which is its primary armament. Its airframe was designed for durability, with measures such as 1,200 pounds (540 kg) of titanium armor to protect the cockpit and aircraft systems, enabling it to absorb a significant amount of damage and continue flying. Its short takeoff and landing capability permits operation from airstrips close to the front lines, and its simple design enables maintenance with minimal facilities. The A-10 served in Operation Desert Shield, and Operation Desert Storm, the American intervention against Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, where the A-10 distinguished itself. The A-10 also participated in other conflicts such as Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, and against the Islamic State in the Middle East. The A-10A single-seat variant was the only version produced, though one pre-production airframe was modified to become the YA-10B twin-seat prototype to test an all-weather night capable version. In 2005, a program was begun to upgrade remaining A-10A aircraft to the A-10C configuration with modern avionics for use of precision weaponry. With a variety of upgrades and wing replacements, the A-10's service life may be extended to 2028. 2. Detail Fit Deficiencies 4 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Dec 2022

Hobby Master is almost a 5-Star product. You can always count on the add-on plastic parts to quite not fit properly on-to or in-to the die cast receptacles they are meant to fit into or on-to..

  3. A-10 23rd Wing “Flying Tigers” 5 Star Review

There's been plenty of speculation and comments on the paint scheme on this model. Specifically, the colors of the upper parts of the die-cast. Photos seem to show on the actual aircraft that the colors might be two different tones/shades of gray. While that may be true, I'm from the school of thought in liking the model for what it represents. A lightly camouflage painted model with regular camo on the tail surfaces, a rather uniquely rendered paint scheme. And the "Flying Tigers" on both sides of the engine nacelles are quite striking and impressive!

I'm glad I decided to get this die-cast model, with a slightly different paint scheme into my A-10 collection. Aiken's Airplanes did a very nice job in packing the models for the trip, "Santa's satellite Shop in the South" and FedEx did a good job in quickly getting them here before Christmas.
