On January 17, 1955, Commander Eugene P. Wilkinson signaled this historic message from the USS Nautilus: Underway on nuclear power. The USS Nautilus was the worldåÕs first nuclear submarine and became the worldåÕs most famous submarine, setting many endurance records for submerged operations (she could stay underwater for weeks at a time) and, in 1958, navigating under the North Pole. Photograph is personally signed by Eugene P. Wilkinson, her first commanding officer. Limited Edition print - Certificate of Authenticity included.
