USAAC  PG  , HQ GROUP 1940 P-40 WARHAWK

6th in the MAS Series

Spec Cast  announced their second World War II Series at the beginning of 2000! This Series is officially called the "Classic WWII Military Airplane Series". It features (3) types of aircraft and a total of (8) planes in the Series. Total numbers produced are projected to run approximately 2500 for each aircraft. Release dates are staggered beginning January 1, 2000 through December 1, 2000.

The early P-40s were the only pursuit planes that were delivered with the "interim" two color camouflage and rudder stripes.   This aircraft is plane #4 of the Headquarters Group of the 8th Pursuit Group, based at Langley Field, VA.  Shown as it appeared in 1940, the colorful markings on this plane and its sisters did not last long, the U.S. replacing them with less conspicuous schemes based on lessons learned from the war in Europe.

"By September 1940, the 8th Pursuit Group at Langley Field (Virginia) had been equipped with P-40s, the first to receive them.    They were delivered in the Army's olive drab and gray, which was new that year, and the red, white and blue rudder stripes were standard markings until early 1941."

The Spec Cast replica features 1:45 scale, metal die-casting, hidden collectors bank access and authentic markings and graphics!
