TRIXIE P-40 WARHAWK
Trixie P-40 was the airplane flown by Capt. Joseph A. Bloomer of the 8th Air Force, 325th Fighter Group, 318th Fighter Squadron. The 325th was referred to as the "Checkertail Clan". Capt. Bloomer came up with the idea to attach a hand grenade to the fuel drop-tank and when empty, drop it on an enemy position instead of just jettisoning the empty tank. This "gadget" actually worked and the data was sent Stateside. It was later revealed that the US Military already had a similar project in the works--which turned out to be the deadly napalm bomb! This is a newly announced release from Spec Cast, a 1:45th scale die-cast metal, limited edition that will have a production of only 504 planes!!
