HOT WHEELS BLIMP
An officially licensed product of Hot Wheels, this Hot Wheels Blimp is a limited edition die-cast bank with pad printed graphics. One of only 2500, Hot Wheels Blimp measures approx. 9 inches long by 3 inches high. Pull-up on the top fin to insert coins, slide latch forward and pull down gondola to remove coins from Blimp!
Historical Note: The story of the Airship, as it is known in Europe, and the Blimp as it is known in the U.S., owes its beginning to Count Von Zeppelin of Germany. This avid balloonist recognized and capitalized on the potential of the airship, creating a motorized blimp with rigid construction . In the early years blimps were used for passenger travel between cities. Advances in design allowed blimps to be used in air raids and as aerial observation stations helping to protect merchant fleets during and after WW II. The blimps of today are used as corporate airships that are seen at national events across the country. These advanced blimps feature a camera platform and are equipped with lights so that they may display messages after dark.
