New from Producer "Jim Milanos" is this Delta Airlines "Delta Air Corp" crop duster bi-plane! Delta Airlines' beginnings began as a crop dusting company based in Monroe, Louisana. The company gradually made the transition from agricultural spraying to carrying passengers and becoming one of the USA's premier passenger carrier airlines! This replica is a tribute to their beginnings as an Ag- spraying company and their subsequent successes. This limited edition 1934 Stearman Bi-Plane features limited production of only 750. Other features include rotating prop and wheels, simulated Ag- spraying rig underneath the aircraft, heavy die-cast metal, hidden bank access and large 1:48 scale (wing span over 11 inches). Notice the "Restricted" labeling on the side of the fuselage for restrited category(Ag Spraying). Also, this plane features a replica of the "spray rig" underneath the airplane! Historical Note: One of the most popular airplanes to be introduced in aviation history was the Stearman Bi-Plane. The early 1930's saw a remarkable increase in aviation enthusiasm due to " Wing Walking," or " Barnstorming," a popular sport made possible by the two wing design. Lloyd Stearman founded the Stearman Aircraft Company in 1927 in Venice, California. He continued to develop the Stearman and Stearman Trainers which were later used as army training planes. Many also later were converted to agriculture crop dusters because of their rugged frames and more powerful engines. After World War II, large numbers of the Stearmans were purchased by the private sector and converted into company identified aircraft and used for a variety of promotional events.
