AMERICAN AIRWAYS LOCKHEED ORION
This limited edition airplane has hidden
bank features, heavy die cast metal, baked enamel finish and pad printed graphics as well
as rotating props and wheels. This
officially licensed American Airlines collectible was issued by Spec Cast.
Historical Note: The Lockheed was a low-wing monoplane made primarily of stressed-plywood construction as an outgrowth of the Lockheed Vega. With a Wasp supercharged engine the Orion had a top speed of 225 mph which made it one of the fastest production planes in 1931.
