Historical Note: Piloted by Capt Frank M. Hawks, this aircraft flew from New York to Los Angeles and back, in a record setting 36 hours, 48 minutes, and 48 seconds on June 27-29, 1929! The airplane was purchased from Lockheed Aircraft Co. of Burbank, CA on January 25, 1929 for $18, 040. It flew approximately 90, 000 miles before being lost in an accident in West Palm Beach, FL in January 1930.
