MCDONALD'S 1929 LOCKHEED AIR EXPRESS An Ertl Collectibles 1929 Lockheed Air Express, this airplane is officially licensed by the Mcdonald's Corp. Features heavy die-cast metal, rotating prop and wheels, and has a coin slot under the engine cowl (accessible by rotating the engine cowl) and coin removal underneath the fuselage ( latched door ). Measures approx. 12 inches wingspan by 8 inches in length. Historical Note: In 1948, two brothers, Dick and Maurice(Mac) McDonald, opened the first McDonald's Restaurant in San Bernardino, California. Speedee, a smiling hamburger man wearing a chef's hat, became the McDonald's company symbol. The bright Golden Arches became the new symbol for McDonald's when Ray Kroc bought the business in 1961.
