HERSHEY'S 1932 NORTHROP GAMMA
This officially licensed product of Hershey's
is an authentically scaled replica airplane coin bank. Features include rotating wheels
and propeller, heavy die-cast metal and
highly detailed graphics. As the picture leaves alot to be desired, the writing on the
side of the fuselage says"HERSHEY'S THE GREAT AMERICAN
CHOCOLATE COMPANY". Underneath the airplane is the Hershey's logo and name
written on the wing as well as the key and locked hatch. Also, underneath the
horizontal stab, both "Ertl" and "Northrop Gamma" are stamped into the
metal.
Historical Note: In 1983 Milton Hershey attended the Colombian Exposition in Chicago and watched a demonstration of German chocolate-making equipment. Aware of the popularity of chocolate flavored caramels, Mr. Hershey purchased the machinery and began manufacturing cocoa and chocolate confections.
