CHUCK OLDER'S "HELLS ANGEL" CURTISS P-40 WARHAWK

One of WWII’s most extensively produced aircraft, 15,000 P-40’s were delivered by the end of its production in 1944. Despite its large production numbers, the aircraft was a surprisingly poor fighter and lacked many performance attributes seen in other aircraft of its time. One of the most famous P-40’s was the “Hell’s Angel” flown by Charles Older. The P-40 flew at a maximum speed of 343 m.p.h. It was armed with six 12.7-mm machine guns, plus up to 1,500 lbs. of bombs.
