As a follow up to the P-47 Thunderbolt, the United States began production of a single-seat fighter-bomber known as the F-84 Thunderjet. Although the aircraft was used primarily by the United States in the Korean War, nearly half of the 2,713 produced were supplied to NATO forces. The Thunderstreak flew at a maximum speed of 695 mph, was armed with six 12.7 mm Browning M3 machine-guns, and continued in service with the Air National Guard until 1971.
