1944 US NAVY FM-1 WILDCAT, #4 of VC-58
from the USS GUADALCANAL (CVE-60), 1944
On January 13, 1944 this FM-1 (BuNo 46776) barely missed going off the USS Guadalcanal's deck when landing! The FM-1 Wildcat contained the Atlantic anti-submarine camoufalge scheme color of non-specular dark gray on the top of non-specular insignia white. The aircraft's numbers were painted non-specular Black. (USN/D, Lucabaugh).
