U.S. ARMY STINSON DETROITER
This Gearbox collectible is one of only twenty-five hundred made. It has a hidden coin slot, attached key, working propeller, rotating rubber wheels, quality tampo graphics and is made of heavy die cast metal. This airplane measures 11 inches in wing span by 8 inches long and weighs over a pound.
Historical note: The Stinson Detroiter is well known as the American aircraft with a completely enclosed sound -proof and heated cabin. It was also the first to incorporate brakes onto its landing gear. The Detroiter was an excellent vehicle for winter flying, eventually winning awards for its reliability and endurance. During World War II the military enlisted the use of several civilian aircraft as transports, reconnaissance and liaison vehicles. The Stinson family of high-wing planes were utilized in this capacity.
