The Tornado is the result of the recently formed international cooperative between Great Britain, West Germany and Italy. The Tornado GR1 was created to provide all weather, low-level, superior air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capability. Designed as a low level supersonic aircraft, range of conventional stores, including the Paveway II & III laser guided bombs. The swept wing design enables fast supersonic cruising and maximum attack response at a slower dog fighting speeds. The Tornado's aggressive performance characteristics proved highly effective as it engaged in many successful aerial operations during the Gulf War.
