The workhorse of the US Naval Carrier Air Battle Group, the F-14 has awesome firepower, speed and maneuverability. The Tomcat is equipped with the AWG-9 weapons control system that enables the fighter to track and lock up 24 separate targets up to 103 miles away. Te AWG-9 control system, along with the Phoenix, Sidewinder and Heat Seeker missile systems make the F-14 Tomcat the superior air-to-air combat platform. The unique swept wing design is managed by a separate Mach Sweep computer program to maintain optimum lift to drag ratio during all combat scenarios. The swept wing design enables the Tomcat to jump from close - in aerial combat to Supersonic speed in a matter of seconds. The Tomcat provided unparalleled fighter support throughout Operation Desert Storm.
