Powered by the 1500hp Avo-Lycoming AGT-1500 turbine engine, the M1 is the quickest heavy armor tank platform today. The angular and squat looking tank is equipped with the latest in technology and massive firepower which made it the preeminent battle tank during Desert Storm. Chobham Armor was added to protect against the kinetic energy from hollow charge projectiles, and the massive 105mm gun was upgraded to the M256 120mm smoothbore cannon. The speed, armor, and firepower of the M1A1 Abrams gave it the decisive edge during all battle scenarios in the Operation Desert Storm.
