HISTORICAL NOTE:   Activated in August, 1942 the 101st Airborne Division ws one of the first such units int he United States Army. Sometimes referred to as the father of the American airborne troops, Brig. General William C. Lee was the first to command the unit. In one of his early speeches to his troops he said, "The 101st has no history, but it has a rendevous with destiny!" The Screaming Eagles, as they are known, are seen here in woodland camouflage.
