US PARATROOPER - 6 PC. SET

FORWARD MARCH - SPECIAL FORCES

Available: SEP 2007

June 6, 1944, D-Day.  The Allied invasion of Hitler's "Fortress Europe," found members of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions dropping at night into German occupied France.  The jump was chaotic due to the turbulent weather and German gunfire.  Jumping too fast and too low further complicated their mission by scattering the troops miles from their assigned drop zones.  This mission was to relieve some of the pressure from the amphibious assault troops landing at Utah Beach.  D-Day was just the beginning for most of the troops as they battled across Europe, eventually bringing about the defeat of Germany.

Historical Note:  The Special Forces carry out assignments involving counter-terrorism, reconnaissance and unconventional warfare.  With these types of missions, it is imperative the groups are highly trained and armed.  That is why the selection process is rigorous, and the training can last for over two years for many of the Special Forces members.  There are some missions that require even further training.  Here Corgi is proud to honor the Special Forces with both 54-mm individual figures and 30-mm six-piece sets.
