FORWARD MARCH 

The British Army at the outbreak of WWII was the very small force and certainly no match for the mass German divisions.  Having lost a large amount of weaponry at the Battle of Dunkirk, it took time for them to reorganize and re-equip the new divisions, forcing many troops to equip themselves with obsolete or repaired equipment early on.  Eventually, after being properly equipped and trained, and their fighting spirit never lacking, the British Army led the way in the attack on the Axis forces of Germany, Italy and Japan.
