Historical Note:    The EC-47's were initially put into service in the summer of 1966 when the first EC-47 Squadron was activated at Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam, the 360th Recon Squadron under the 460th Tactical Recon Wing at Tan Son Nhut AB near Saigon. On August 1st, 1968, the 14th Special Operations Wing was formed in South Vietnam , and 44-76668 was put into use with  the 361st Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron. Some 66 C-47's of all types served in the South Vietnam Air Force, and when the North Vietnamese took over, sixteen of them escaped to Thailand, leaving an estimated 38 in Vietnam!
