C-47 Skytrain "That`s All Brother", WWII D-Day Invasion
World War II

Historical Note:

Vintage Fuel Collectibles present, as a tribute to the heroic men and selfless heroes who fought in the invasion at Normandy to bring about world peace through victory in WW2. Along with the hard working women, “Rosie the Riveters” who held down the Homefront while building an amazing number of warbirds, to the “WASP”- Women Airforce Service Pilots who helped to deliver many of these marvelous machines... We proudly introduce the D-Day version of the famous “That’s All Brother” C-47 Skytrain.

The year is 1941, and the United States Air Corps had been transformed. And the new U.S. Army Air Forces is born. Looking for a serious aircraft to provide airlift superiority they selected a modified version of the DC-3, the C-47 Skytrain, to become its standard “workhorse” transport aircraft... Just in time, as the storm clouds of war were building on the horizon. As a supply plane, the C-47 could carry up to 6,000 pounds of cargo. It could also hold a fully assembled JEEP or a 37mm cannon. As a troop transport, it carried 28 soldiers in full combat gear while towing a fully loaded glider. As a medical airlift plane, it could accommodate 14 stretcher patients and three nurses. Our C-47 is decked-out in historic D-Day graphics, which include the famous white wing striping... which was hastily applied to over 10,000 Allied aircraft in a 3-day period just prior to the invasion. Because of mandated radio silence, this regalia was required to distinguish the good guys from the bad. In addition to the required striping, this iconic plane was painted with bright yellow letters reading “That’s All Brother” – “brother" as in Hitler was a statement of confidence that the reign of the Third Reich was about to end! The young men who flew the 3X W292847, C-47 knew they’d be the FIRST plane in formation, leading over 800 aircraft behind them, inbound to Normandy shortly after 12 o’clock mid-night June 6th,1944... The D-Day invasion.
