B-29 Super Fortress
Wing Span: 12 in
Flown by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), the Boeing B-29 Super Fortress was one of the most sophisticated aircraft of WWII. This four-engine heavy bomber plane saw action during World War II and the Korean War, where it walloped enemy forces with its powerful artillery. A derivative of the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-29 had a pressurized cabin and advanced weaponry system. Considered an advanced bomber during its time, the B-29 had remote-controlled guns and an electronic fire-control system. Even after the war, the Superfortress remained in service and retired only in 1960, nearly 20 years after it made its first flight. According to its pilots, the Superfortress was a mild-mannered aircraft to fly.
