Kitchen table with wings attached… 100 years ago Orville and Wilbur Wright created a new era by piloting a motorized glider for a couple of hundred yards. History was made at Kitty Hawk, culminating in Boeing 747s circling the globe and Voyager spacecraft soaring off into infinite space. The Wright’s aircraft, which really looked more like a flying kitchen table than a modern plane, is now exhibited in the National Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. Orville and Wilbur traveled the world to promote their invention, and as famous personalities they signed books, memorabilia and note cards for early collectors. Their “Yours truly, Orville and Wilbur Wright” signature on the box of our little Wright flyer somehow brings them closer.L. 7.09 in. / 18.01 cm.
