FOKKER DR. 1 TRIPLANE
Historical Note: The Dr.1 Triplane Fokker was designed by Reinhold Platz. He designed planes during the First World War on both sides but the allied forces rejected him. People thought that he copied the look of the Sopwith Triplane but he claims he had not even seen it before he began designing the Dr.1 Triplane Fokker.

The manufacturer of the Dr.1 Triplane Fokker was Anthony Herman Gerald. In July 14, 1917, he produced 320 Triplanes. The first Triplane Fokker was delivered by Tony Fokker to the Red Baron. In August 1917, the first triplane appeared at the Western Front. It is considered to be the most famous fighter aircraft in World War I. It remained in service at the Western Front until the Fokker D VIII was created in 1918.
The Dr.1 Triplane Fokker showed some difficulty in landing. A proof of this is seen from the wooden skids on the lower wingtips of the aircraft. The problems brought by the Triplane left the pilots defenseless against serious physical injuries.
