DEHAVILLAND TIGERMOTH MK. II

Historical Note:        The Tiger Moth was developed because of the success of a civil aircraft which is the D.H.60 Moth. The Tiger Moth was a legend because of its role during the war and its aerobatic endeavors. The D.H. 60T was a better version with the revised front cockpit for a quicker exit change in case of an emergency.

The D.H. 60T version is the De Havilland Tiger Moth Mk II. This version is similar to the first one which is the Mk I but they only differ with their Powerplant as this version has 130 hp Gypsy Major 4-cylinder engine, and there are plywood that covered some of its areas instead of fabric.

The Tiger Moth II manufactured by the De Havilland has a length of 23 feet 11 inches; height of 8 feet 9.5 inches; operational weight of 1750 lb typical or 1825 lb max.; a bi-plane with 29 feet 4 inches wing span and area of 29 feet 4 inches and 239 square feet respectively. This version’s maiden flight was on the 26th of October 1931. It was with the service from February 1932 to 1953. And it only allows two flight crews: the pilot and the instructor.
