Stuka: The Junkers Ju 87 or also called as Stuka was a dive bomber type of an
aircraft during World War II. This dreadfully ugly dive-bomber aroused terror
far greater than its airworthiness would deserve. It acquired an almost
legendary reputation, probably from the lack of aerial opposition. Ju-87 Stuka
was known by having an inverted gull wings, fixed undercarriage, and a wailing
siren. Junkers Ju-87 Bomber was manufactured by the Junkers. It was introduced
in 1937 and was retired in 1945. Its primary users were Luftwaffe, Regia
Aeronautica, Bulgarian Air Force, and Hungarian Air Force.
The Ju 87 got some innovative features such as automatic pull up dive brakes
under its wings, plus a wind-powered siren under its nose. This siren was called
by the Junkers as Trumpets of Jericho. It wailed when the aircraft dives, for it
to some what frighten its victims.
The Ju 87G was a refitted Ju 87D. It was an anti-tank aircraft. It got a length
of 11.1 meter; wingspan of 13.8 meter; height of 3.9 meter; wing area of 31.90
square meters; weight of 3600 kilogram when empty and 5,100 kilogram when
loaded. Its engine was Junkers Jumo 211J; it got a maximum power of 1410 kW;
maximum speed of 375 kilometer per hour; range with bombs of 1000 kilometer;
ceiling of 7500 meter; climb of 3000 meter in 13.6 min; forward guns of 2x
7.92mm MG 17 and 2x 37mm BK 37; and rear guns of 1x 7.92mm MG 81Z (twin MG 81).
