Limited Edition of 70 pieces worldwide. An SS soldier crouched down, peers cautiously round a corner/vehicle with pistol held in his hand. We have supplied bases on the A version. The 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend" was a German SS formation during WWII, the majority of its enlisted men were young members of the Hitler Youth, some of them aged just 16 years old, while the senior NCO'S and officers were from other SS units. The division was renowned for its tenacity in battle, but it also gained notoriety for war crimes committed against civilians and captured Allied troops. During the Normandy campaign, the division suffered 80% losses and was withdrawn for refit, where it took part in the Battle of the Bulge. After this failed offensive, the division was then transferred to Hungary, but as defeat stared Germany in the face, the 12th SS managed to extract itself from the Soviet advance and surrendered to American forces in Austria. Several of its leading figures were put on trial for war crimes after the war. Synonymous with the SS was the pea dot pattern fabric, which was one of a family of German WWII camouflage patterns and first issued to the SS in early 1944. The pattern had four main colors, arranged as small rounded areas dotted over large irregular areas. The makeup of the dye was subject to local availability, which was then becoming somewhat erratic with artificial and cheaper dyes being used by some manufacturers.

The range also includes some adversaries for the Legion in the form of Arabic soldiers. These figures are always highly sought after! Central and Allied Flying Aces, German Infantry, ANZACS, Tommies, Poilus, and more are all available as toy soldiers from Thomas Gunn Miniatures. Another popular subject, Lawrence of Arabia, is also produced from this era. In addition, Thomas Gunn Miniatures produces World War II figures to round out your displays of the D-Day Normandy invasion, The Battle of the Bulge, The Russian Front, and The Pacific. Some of the most unique items created by the company are experimental rockets and jet aircraft for the German Luftwaffe. 1. Excellent Thomas Gunn Figure! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Nov 2019

The new Thomas Gunn German SS figures are among the best they have made to date. The figures have excellent and realistic paint applications. They are also much closer to proper 1/30 scale, making them compatible for use with other figures and vehicles from John Jenkins Designs, First Legion, War Park, and others. The new poses, mostly in various crouching positions and holding weapons, are quite useful in a variety of action-type diorama setups. I’ve got this figure and others from the series in a small setup with the recently-released Normandy Panther Tank from First Legion and the TGM figures look perfect!
